Hey everyone! My name is Marco. I came from Texas originally. I ended up at a shelter in Houston after I was picked up as a stray. Right away the vets noticed my foot, but overall I'm pretty lucky. I have a birth defect, but it doesn't slow me down one bit. I just hop a little more than most dogs. I live with big & little dogs right now! I've been here for quite a while, and I've made it clear that I only like the little one. Even though the big dogs leave me alone and aren't rough with me, I still steer clear of them and still occasionally growl when they get excited or run close to me. I LOVE to play with my little foster brother Gus though (he's also about 5lbs like me). We love to wrestle and chase and play! So I think I would really prefer a home with another small playful dog! NO big dogs though.. I just don't think I'd be happy in a home with any big dogs. I can be a bit bossy at first with dogs to show them that even though I'm tiny, they need to respect me. My foster mom and take any food, treats, or toys away from with without so much as a grumble, but that does not apply for other dogs! I'm pretty protective of my food and will growl and bark to let them know to leave me in peace when I'm munching on my snacks. I did live with cats in my foster home in Texas, but I was not a fan! So no kitties for me please. :) I recently have been spending some time with a toddler and did great with her! Any kids would just need to be careful with me since I'm such a tiny little dude, but overall I like their attention if they're gentle. I am mostly potty trained, but my foster mom has seen me mark a couple times, so I'm working on that now. Nothing a belly band can't fix! I'm a fairly vocal little guy, so apartment or a home with shared walls may not be best for me. I'm a super friendly guy though, even when meeting strangers. I am a pretty energetic little dude, so I love to get it all out when I play. My foster mom says I don't love my crate & will bark, but I will tolerate it & calm down shortly after. I love sleeping in bed with my foster mom though, because I love to cuddle. I'm a total lap dog! Also, please keep in mind that I'm a tiny guy, & can slip through gates/fences with ease, so a watchful eye on me is a must.
