Hi, I’m Ellen, but everybody has been calling me Nelly! I am a super sweet, shy girl and am starting to come out of my shell a little more each day.
I might be timid, but I promise I won’t growl or nip at you! I just need a little more time to figure out that humans aren’t so scary. I am sometimes okay with being petted, and I like to give lots of hand kisses. My foster mom says I’m having little breakthroughs every single day, but it may take me several months before I’m okay with being loved on.
I really love chew toys. My foster mom has a big bucket of them and I love to take each of them out one by one to see what they’re all about. I’m still a young pup, after all...
My safe place is my crate. I like to hang in there when I need a break from all the commotion. I sleep there overnight without making a peep, and I go in there when my foster mom isn’t home. It’s fun to hang out with the rest of the house and my foster mom tells me all the time what a brave girl I am!
I am completely potty trained and haven’t had a single accident at my foster mom’s house! I keep my kennel clean and I’ll get excited when you ask me if I want to go outside. I don’t even mind the snow!
Another thing that has helped me is being around other dog and cat friends. Seeing them interact with humans helps me understand that humans are okay! I feel much more confident with other dogs around, so I really need (and require) at least one other confident dog in my forever home to learn from. My current foster sister is teaching me how to be a dog and I’m getting the hang of it pretty quickly.
I can’t wait to show you what a sweet girl I am!
