Usually, all my foster dogs write their own bio’s and I just add a little “Mama’s note” at the end, but Corky didn’t have time for that non-sense- he has a nap to go take. So, here’s Mama’s version of his bio.
If you’ve ever seen the movie Grumpy Old Men, you’ve really already met Corky - or at least you’ve met him in spirit. Sometimes he’s spunky and spry, other times cranky. Corky is a bit of a crotchety old duffer with bad breath that can’t see or hear worth a damn and he’s a chair hog. He eats like a picky toddler, and growls more than a bad transmission- about anything. He goes outside and comes back in when he pleases- and if you look at him sideways, he may or may not bark about it. He sometimes has accidents in the house if I don’t pay attention- and when it happens, he makes it known that it’s my fault for not reading his cues.
Corky came to my house about a month ago as things weren’t working out so great for him in his last home. He’s been settling into my home- with my 4 dogs (one being an in your face puppy) and cat well. He gets cranked up at the puppy once in a while- but honestly, I can’t blame him- we all do. When irritated beyond words, he will bark at the pup and when all else fails- he goes and gets up on the couch- one place the pup can’t bug him.
As goofy and grumpy as he is, Corky is also a total love muffin. He loves to snuggle on the couch- but you don’t need to pet him constantly. He prefers to just lounge next to you. He loves to sleep on the bed and snuggle right in by your knees. Every once in a while, you get a picture of what the young Corky was like- he loves to go outside and gets excited about going for short walks. He wants to run and play and remember what the old days were like, but his old self just can’t go like he used too.
Corky would love a quieter house, with someone who doesn’t need to smother him with constant affection. He’d love someone who just lets him kind of live with them and get pet when he asks for it, is able to be fed when hungry and maybe someone who loves watching a good series on Netflix. He would be fine with another dog, especially one with a similar energy level. He’d prefer no cats but could make it work and he cannot live with children- or in a home where children are around very often. He’s just a little too cranky for that.
This is the hardest part to write, and I’m sure it’ll cause many to click to the next sweet dog, but it needs to be said. If you are savvy to the ways of The Chihuahua, you may be THE ONE. Corky has a couple incidents of biting. Both times, he gave warning to the people- who didn’t listen. Senior dogs are set in their ways. Corky doesn’t like to be woken up, he doesn’t like to be pet while sleeping and he definitely doesn’t want to be picked up while he’s sleeping. He needs his space and just asks that you respect it. If you are up to that- he’ll be just fine.
The Corkster is excited to meet you- in his own crankbutt way, and he really hopes to find his forever home soon- where he can get away from this puppy and nap in peace already!
