Fuego is looking for a very experienced chihuahua owner. Don't be fooled by his gorgeous appearance, he has "issues" and cannot go to a home with small children. He is a bite case surrender from Texas. whoever adopts him, will have to sign a form saying they understand this. He needs continuing training to overcome his "triggers". He LOVES his daily training sessions with me involving his harness. Possible abuse may have led to some things becoming uncomfortable for him and he responds with the "fight" response, in an instant. For Fuego to be successful in his new home, he should have a fenced in yard. One cannot easily put a harness on him; so no walks, same goes for a collar and belly band. I am able to put a muzzle on him, as this is not one of his triggers, but he shouldn't wear it for long periods of time. He is so good at going potty outside, but tends to mark a little indoors, on new items, as there is another boy here that likes to mark. It's a competition apparently. For vet visits and nail trims, we have discovered Gabapentin is a MUST. There is no other way. Works great. On to the good stuff... Fuego LOVES my youngest chihuahua, Sunnie. They play for hours and hours and he is so good with her. He is also really good with my other chihuahuas, but tends be very aggressive if his food/treat is monopolized. I can easily give him treats directly to his mouth. He tends to guard bones that are lying around, though. He loves his kennel, and sleeps in it at night and during the day. Fuego is incredibly loving. He jumps and "smiles" when he wants attention and when I come home from work. He will jump up on my lap and demand pets and he loves to be brushed and pet, even his belly! He scoots closer and closer on his butt to get pets. It's so stinking cute. Since I learned his triggers, we have lived happily ever after. It is easy to avoid what makes him tick, he just needs that chance.
