Hi everyone! My name is Sriracha! I am an extremely special cross-eyed kitty who's so excited to find my forever home. Some nice people brought me into Ruff Start from a hoarding case where I became very ill. They have estimated me to be about 1 year old and 5lbs, I am pocket-sized! I'm so happy to finally be in a home where I can be someone's center of attention!
I was diagnosed with Feline Calicivirus, which can suppress my immune system. This can be really common to catch in hoarding situations. There is not a treatment, and this disease can flare up when my immune system is down. Right now I am being treated symptomatically and I will require a dedicated owner who can be my advocate for keeping me healthy. I have lived with lots of kitty's but and have met a few dogs without any problems. With my diagnosis, it would be best if I was the only kitty in the home. Please don't let this deter you as I so desperately want a home with friends, maybe a doggie I can wrestle with (don't worry, I can't get your pup sick!).
My favorite activities include: Playing fetch with my foster mom (my favorite toy is a stuffed fish and a hair clip), kitty zoomies, watching the squirrels outside my window, going outside on my harness, walking in between your legs, and cuddling in next to my person.
My least favorite activities include: My foster mom isn't sure if I was ever picked up before because I sure don't like it! I am also not a big fan of getting my meds every day, but have gotten into a good routine.
I am so excited to finally have one person's attention! I walk around my foster mom's house purring and weaving through her legs. I have been moved around quite a bit and it took me a few days to get used to my new settings. I'm super affectionate but also very playful. I like to bat around random objects around the house and am super good at keeping myself busy.
Woo! That was a lot. Here's an overview of my needs.
-It would be best to live in a home where I'm the only cat or a home with a doggy friend.
-I receive my medications twice daily. I will need to have an adopter comfortable with scruffing me and putting medication down my throat.
-Someone to play fetch with me.

An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal. Once Ruff Start Rescue receives your application, a placement coordinator will contact you as soon as possible. All Ruff Start dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention (dogs) as well as heartworm tested (dogs).
Ruff Start Rescue is a foster-based rescue. All Ruff Start animals are in foster homes throughout Minnesota unless stated otherwise. Ruff Start Rescue does not have a facility that has animals for viewing. Please visit Ruff Start's website, www.ruffstartrescue.org, for more information.
