Hi, my name Maximillian but you can call me Max. I am a 6lbs, 6-year-old Jack Russell mix. I am a typical Jack Russell, I have many typical characteristics of my breed, I can be needy, I am very playful, cuddly on my own terms, occasionally temperamental and I like being vocal. I had a rough past, it takes me some time to become comfortable with new people and I tend to have my favorites. I am initially protective of all my things, I have difficulty sharing anything, and appreciate patience from people who understand my breed and my anxieties. I will do best in a home with no kids or other pets because after I am comfortable with my people, I am very loveable, I like to snuggle and I want all the attention to be on me!
At first, I am very shy and can be easily scared. When I am scared, I get loud to be sure you know I am uncomfortable or nervous, but given time, patience and of course some treats, I will learn to trust you so we can be best buddies. Eventually, you will see I am a total love bug who loves belly rubs. I sometimes cry whenever my humans leave the room and my favorite activities are playing ball, cuddling on your lap, and going for walks. I am still learning not everyone wants to take my food or toys away but with some time and patience, my foster mom and dad and I became close and learned to trust each other.
Once I warm up to my people, I am a silly, adorable, bit of and cuddly little guy. Some of my favorite things to do are jump up on the couch and cuddle in my foster’s lap. If I get scared my fosters put me in my dog play pen attached to my kennel and this helps me feel safe. In my new home, I will need a small retreat location where I can decompress if I become overwhelmed. There is nothing better than getting some loves and scratches from my people (especially behind my ears)! I am potty trained and would much rather go outside, but if I am scared or if it’s been a long day or night, I am also potty pad trained.
There is nothing better than spending time outside in the sun with my foster family and going on walks. I know I can be a little challenging at first, but under all my anxiety and stubbornness is a big hearted and affectionate dog! If you are looking for a small bundle of joy, a constantly wagging tail, and a medium activity level dog - I am your pup!
