Are you looking for the perfect guard dog? Do you not appreciate uninvited guests, or even invited ones? Do you need a bodyguard wherever you go who can fit in your purse to prevent unsolicited hugs? Meet Petri the Tiny Terrorist, aka baby Dahmer. Looks cute, doesn't he? That's how the tiny murderers win. Stay sexy and don't get murdered with this adorable pocket pet who will love you, and only you.
From the foster mom: Seriously though, while he isn't perfect and he will certainly chase down any unexpected home invader, he is also incredibly loving and devoted to his humans once given time to bond with them (meaning without the same unsolicited hugs he will protect you from). He is an amazing little dude. I'm completely smitten with him. We have started working with him on his reaction to strangers already, but this is a long term commitment to his retraining and mental well-being, bit by bit over the course of his lifetime, and not a quick fix. Just like you would need time and practice to get over your phobias and prejudices, so does Petri, but we believe he can do it because he sooo wants to please his people and listens really well.
He does love dogs. In his current foster home, he lives with two large Pitbulls and so long as they don't step on him, he likes them just fine. He did growl at them once or twice when he first arrived, but now that they recognize his superiority he is happy to have them as heated blankets. He was also babysat in a temporary foster home that had two lab puppies and 5 other chihuahuas and he loved it. He has met cats but hasn't done great with them yet and we think he will chase because he is very interested in the smaller animals in his foster home too. He knows how to sit, loves to chill on the dog bed or on the couch, takes treats fairly gently, and listens well. He is well past the puppy stage so he has been fine so far in the house-training and calmness departments. He does not like his kennel...how on earth could he save you from being murdered when locked in a kennel??? He does quiet down in his kennel after awhile though when the lights go off for the night. Ultimately he may be trustworthy left out of the kennel, we just haven't tested out that theory. He is likely too sassy for an apartment setting.
Must-haves include a good human leader who is committed to continuing his progress, carefully introducing him to new people with safety in mind first. He has not bit anyone while in our care and we don't intend to let him start once he leaves.
