Hello world they call me buckwheat at the rescue but my foster mom calls me taco! I came up from Texas so I'm a good old southern boy. I've had very minimal human interaction so I'm extremely shy and scared of people but my foster mom has been working with me and I actually go up and sniff strangers which is huge she said and praises me by jumping up and down and acting all silly that I went up and sniffed a stranger. She's kind of a weird woman but she's got a big heart and I sure do like her. Not much of my back story is known but my foster mom says that I will need a very patient person with a big huge heart like her that can see what she sees in me. She says I'm pretty good at house training and I go potty outside really well but I like to stick by her side so if she doesn't make sure I go potty outside when she's out with me then... I might have a little accident in the house right next to her. I really don't want to leave her side that's the thing! I haven't quite given kisses yet to my foster mom but I watch all the other pups here give her kisses and how much she likes them and I so want to do it, I'm just not there yet. She said she'll keep trying and eventually I'll give her kisses. I do kiss her on the hand when she's petting me and she praises me for that by saying thank you for the kisses. I'm a good little boy, I don't bark very much. I get along great with all my foster mom's dogs, she's got a big one and a bunch of small ones. Her son has friends over so they all come up and meet the pups and foster mom says I do really well with that by going up and sniffing them. I haven't let them touch me yet but I'll get there. I'm a happy little guy and I smile when I'm happy. When I'm being pet the sides of my lips curl up a little bit and my foster mom says I'm smiling which is super cute she says. I redirect very easily if I'm doing something my foster mom doesn't like she just says nope and I stop. I walk well on a leash but I'm afraid of everything so I will take some time to get over that. My foster mom has a fenced-in yard and I love running around and sunning myself on the deck. I kennel up super easy, all foster mom has to say is kennel up and I run right in. She always gives me a treat or I get a dental bone when she goes back to work from her lunch break. I sleep in the kennel at night and I don't make a peep. I ride pretty well in the car, no noise from me. If you have anymore questions please get ahold of my foster mom and she can explain more of me to you. I'm looking for someone patient that's willing to work with me through my fears and love me for the rest of my life.
Foster mom here, oh what can I say about little taco. He is absolutely adorable and such a great little pup. He looks to me for direction because he's not been taught very much. He was afraid of everything, noises, sudden movements, you name it. This boy has already come so far and he's got a little ways to go but oh my gosh is he so worth it! He bonds really hard to his person and looks to you for everything. His person will have to be supportive and understanding, patient and willing to do whatever it takes to help him, they have to be strong because he cannot take that role, he needs a leader and someone he can trust to get through this fear. He's never attempted to bite, he's just scared and he will hide when he gets scared. Baby talk has worked wonders and having other pups that he can learn from really helps. Having a brother or a sister pup for him would really help him a lot. He's not a big guy, I think he's only about 14 lbs so he's little. He doesn't like being under covers or blankets yet. Lol... I'm thinking one day he will though. I'm not sure how he does with small kids but being the fact that children can be loud and move quickly I think that would probably scare him and he wouldn't come out of his shell, it would only push him back. So I'm not sure if kids would be good for this little guy. I can't think of anything else right now but if you have any questions or want to know anything about little taco AKA buckwheat please let me know and I will answer anything and everything about him.
He's a Texas gem and he's got a second chance at life up here in Minnesota. This little guy will make someone so happy because he's such a funny guy once he trusts you and his heart is huge for love. Plus he's my favorite color black which never shows on your dress clothes and then to top it off he's got Doberman markings the black and tan so he's super cute and his ears stand up oh my gosh!!!
Buckwheat does need a home with another dog present and a fenced in yard
Thank you for reading and thank you for giving a pup a chance at a new life!
was heartworm positive when he first joined rescue but has been treated and doing great!
